The Whispering Shadows of Valhalla: The Politics Game

“Ah Robi there you are! I was wondering when you were coming,” Claudius stands up and gives him hug before going to Adara and Ari to give them the same affection.

It’s quiet in their suite, the bar has no tender. Three royal guards are sitting down on the stools, drinking some ice tea. Robertus doesn’t linger on them, but its likely they are the triplets. He looks forward at the dining table, it’s empty but set and ready for the looming meeting. He looks over and sees no one is sitting in the upper level of the suite’s seat. There are three levels to it the bottom has seven seats, the middle five, the top three.

“Lost track of time a bit, at least the game hasn’t started up yet.” Robertus says as he makes his way over to the seating area, he isn’t paying attention when he is about to sit down in his seat on the bottom level. He jumps back as he is shocked to see Kitty Cha-Cha sitting there.

“Oh my dear Caesar, darling, you look so shocked to see me.” He looks down playfully acting confused, “Oh it seems I am in your seat!” Kitty quickly dances out of the chair. “I guess it was more my placement over my attendance that was your surprise.” He ponders for a moment acting like he is deep in thought. “Oh course, the ever wise Caesar knows, that I wouldn’t miss an invitation from my darling, Claudius.” Kitty Cha-Cha quickly mutters “That or he remembers our chat in the palace.” It was out so quickly it was easy for one to miss him saying it.

Kitty Cha-Cha smirks as he looks over at Claudius, who is clearly rather flushed, while Titus is snickering at him. Kitty quickly rolls over the row of seats, jumping up on the middle row. He stands up then runs behind the empty bar to make himself a drink. The royal guards giggle, while the imperial guards remain stoic.

Robertus steps forward on the view deck in front of the bottom row of chairs and looks down at the arena, it’s a packed night. The stands are painted with the maroon of the mound bats jersey, with sprinkles of teal, Robertus assumes that Parba is facing Escora. He steps back away from the glass, he turns back to see Kitty Cha-Cha is chugging down a cocktail as he entertains his guards. He looks at Claudius who is sitting next to his large engulfing middle seat with Titus next to him who is whispering to Kata. The upper levels of their seating is empty. sitting down in his chair and leans back.

Robertus looks over at Claudius, “I must admit I am still disappointed we aren’t seeing any gladiators.” He says sounding wounded.

“It is for the best that we didn’t watch something so violent, you must remember Janis isn’t the most fond of the gladiator fights.” Claudius says making a reasonable assertion.

“I guess Kitty Cha-Cha is right about you, you are just too good.” Robertus smiles at his cousin before looking back forward. The stadium is an amazing work, comparable to even that of the Imperial stadium of Pimogia, although it is dwarfed by the size of that one. Completely enclosed and air condition to a perfect temperature. The ice is kept perfect, ready for the players to hit the ice.

The score board lights up flashing that the game will be starting in twenty minutes. Robertus smiles as he sees the game is between against the Escora Wadphin, he wasn’t too sure if he was right just from the jerseys he could see. The Pimogies of course are rooting for the mound bats. Robertus watches a screen showing Pabby the Waddy the mascot of the Wadphins is seen going out around the arena dancing and taunting Parba fans, while taking photos with the wadphin fans. Pabby is quickly tackled by Barrabas the Mound Bat, who pants the poor wadphin mascot as soon as they stand up again. Paddy then starts to chase Barrabas around they then make their way on to the ice slipping and sliding around as the clock ticks down to the start of the game.

As the clock hits ten minutes Robertus hears, “I thought I was going to be late, BUT HERE I AM!”

He looks up and sees Conar looking down at them. Robertus quickly rushes up the stairs to great him. He kisses his cheeks before giving him a tight hug, “How are you my good friend,” he pulls away, “It has been far too long since we have been together.”

Conar looks a little bit down, “Things have been a little rough with the Armenians, their remnants have been kicking up strong, and have even started pushing in on gains in the market. I have been busy trying to keep Rogue Rosier on top but its been difficult and I feel like there might be so guys in Blanco Diablo that might try and make a move against me. The Nest is getting messy. Robi we might be heading for a war.”

Robertus looks very concerned, “Would you like my assistance?” Before Conar can answer Janis comes into the booth, and the aurora of the room grows uneasy.

“Hello Caesar,” she turns, “Conar,” Janis says with a cold and distant tone ignoring the other Pimogies in the room.

Robertus smiles uneasily, he reaches out to shake her hand, “Hello Janis, it’s good to see you again, I hope you have been well. You have met Kitty Cha-Cha right?”

She dodges his hand, “I have heard of him, but I am only here for the meeting.” She turns away from the two and focuses on the dining table, “I do not care about this game, or anyone is this room who has no skin in our game. I have some other things I need to be attending to so let’s make this quick.”

Robertus is hurt, he forgot how cold Janis can be, he must have caught her in a foul mood, she is usually able to put on her hollow appearance of kindness. Her mask seems to almost have completely fallen off. It’s no wonder someone like her could hold on to the Nest leadership. It could just be her distaste for the elite of Valhalla, and her seeing no need to hid it. The Pimogies are the supposed masters breaking the backs of the workers of the planet, keeping them put down and under the boot of those with more than them. There is no equivalent to the Nest with in worlds that are truly Pimogie run.

He lets out a sigh, “Alright then.” He looks at the guards, and the other Pimogies, there is disappointment in their eyes as they know his next word.

“Out.” Robertus says very bluntly, they follow his orders with little resistance other than looks of concern from the guards.

“Come on let’s sit here,” Robert is clearly growing very annoyed and angry, Conar puts a hand on his shoulder, Robert breathes a quick breath seeming to calm down a bit, as the three sit down at the table next to the bar.

“Janis, the Nest has been causing trouble for the Cherwinski Corporation, you need to put a stop to this. We have treated the Nest very well, we protect your meetings and have ensured that the Valhallan worker is one of the best treated in the Universe. We have done nothing but worked with you and the people of Valhalla. Straighten out your people and we can ensure no violence taints Valhalla.” The Young Caesar says this very frankly and calmly the two do not look very happy with the thinly vailed threat of the Pimogie boot coming down on to them.

Conar speaks up a bit nervous, as Janis stares coldly at Robertus. “What would you want us to do to prevent this unnecessary ramping up of things and…”

“I don’t appreciate that threat Caesar.” Janis says breaking her silence, cutting off  “But please answer Conar.”

“I would like you to stick to our deal, you are not supposed to be doing harm of any kind to anyone who is a Pimogie or a Cherwinski employee. This isn’t happening. Your members are stretching into the Cherwinski distinct, threatening their families.” Robertus is calculated as he continues, “I do not want Valhalla to flow with blood. I want us to be able to go back to where we before with out any fear of things boiling over.”

The room seems to calm a bit as everyone realizes no one there wants anything to escalate. Janis looks at Robertus with a more neutral look, “I will see what I can do. I am not sure who is over stepping in the Cherwinski district.” She looks at Robertus, her eyes staring into him looking deep into them. “I am going to promise you this, I will try to solve your problem if you can promise us that the Cherwinskis won’t use those guards you gave them in a targeted raid against us.”

“You make sure the Cherwinskis are pleased with the results, and I don’t think you will have an issue.” Robertus pauses for a moment, how did Janis know about the suits, she doesn’t seem to know their full purpose and what they are doing.

“Alright.” Janis gets up from her seat, reaching her hand out to Robertus, “I will shake your hand now.”

Robertus looks a little concerned but takes it and shakes it. “If I hear something went wrong from the Cherwinskis the Nest’s presence will be but a memory.”

“Stop trying to tempt me to break my promise already.”  Janis pushes in her chair and gets ready to leave. “Now I need to get back to Minkonos. I will have Conar speak for me as always. I have no desires to see what hedonism you Pimogies get up to.” Janis says this with disgust, “I have seen you and your concubines enough on the news I don’t need to see what happens in that palace of yours.”  She steps towards the door till pausing for a moment. “Till next time Caesar.”
